DMP chief Shafiqul Islam retires Oct 30

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam is going on retirement from October 30.

A circular signed by Dhananjoy Kumar Das, deputy secretary of the Public Security Division of Home Ministry, was issued in this regard on Thursday.

According to the circular, as age of Shafiqul will be 59 years on October 29, he will be put on retirement from the next day.

Sources at the Home Ministry said it would be known about the next commissioner of the DMP within one or two days.

It is learnt that Additional IGP of police headquarters SM Ruhul Amin, Additional IGP (Crime and Operations) of the headquarters M Khurshid Hossain, Additional IGP Khandaker Golam Faruk and Additional IGP and chief of Special Branch Monirul Islam are on the list to be made new commissioner.
